Article marketing has been around long before online media was been invented. Business establishments have been known to promote their products and services through the written media even before the internet was invented. And with the onset of the internet, online article marketing has become an easier means of promotion compared to its older predecessors.

Not only can online article marketing be free (like most of its predecessors), it is non-seasonal (meaning, people can read your articles the whole year round, without exception as to what season your article is most applicable to), and can exist for even much longer than you will.

Many online business pursuits, affiliate marketing among them, have made use of the ease and the accessibility which online article marketing offers them. However, this same ease has jeopardized many qualities good ol’ fashion articles used to have: fun, quality, and creativity, among others. Many article writers have apparently forgotten the fact that their articles are trying to serve real life people, and not virtual search engines.

If you are into affiliate marketing, you are reading the right article. If you are into online article marketing to help you promote your products, all the better. Once in a while a great PLR package comes available, like the one that Aurelius Tjin released this morning at This package is a perfect example of Private Label Rights packages that can be used to generate targeted traffic from Web 2.0 sites without much effort, and still be used to make money online – and lots of it!

First up, there are only 100 non-transferrable PLR copies ever to be made available – and that scarcity helps your SEO efforts, your targeted traffic generation, and your sales. With so few people able to compete with you on this product, it’s much easier to get the upper hand than it is with most Master Resell Rights products – and since you have Private label rights to the package, you’re branding yourself heavily with it, which can then boost your other targeted traffic generation efforts by adding the power of name recognition.

Always start by doing a blog post announcing the new product, and then ping the blog directories – especially Technorati . Give it a couple of moments, then make sure it’s also showing up in your MyBlogLog listings – Technorati and MyBlogLog are the two most important Web 2.0 sites to any Internet marketer, niche marketer or affiliate marketer in terms of promoting their blog posts.

Here’s where the power of Private Label Rights, or PLR, comes into your Web 2.0 targeted traffic generation strategies… Take a look through the e-book and see if you can find a good passage of about 600-800 words that either sums up the contents of the e-book or gives some great tips without revealing the most powerful tips in the PLR package. Copy & paste that part into a notepad file and edit it as necessary to make it into a powerful Squidoo lens. Write a summary or ‘signature box’ to put at the end of it, pointing out that it’s an exerpt from your book, and recommend they download the full version for more info – and be sure to link to your salespage. Add the lens to Squidoo and as soon as it’s published, bookmark it at all the popular Web 2.0 bookmarking sites using the OnlyWire site.

Next pick 3 or 4 good tips from the e-book, and copy & paste 300-400 word passages about each of those tips into separate notepad files. Touch up anything that doesn’t flow til you have four good articles, add an ‘About the Author’ box that’s similar to the one on your Squidoo lens, and submit all 4 articles to the ten or twelve top article directories online. This is the fastest way to get a number of high-quality one-way backlinks to your new site, getting it quickly spidered in Google, Yahoo!, Live Search, SearchMe, etc.

Really want to maximize your targeted traffic from the Web 2.0 sites? Go back now to the PLR Audio, listen to it right through a couple of times, making note of any 3-5 minute passages that seem particularly crammed with great information. Once you’ve picked a couple, use your audio editing program of choice to copy and paste the two or three best passages into their own audio files. Record a quick intro pointing out that the info is exerpted from your audio e-book, and a quick exit for the audios recommending people download the entire audio from your site – be sure to both say and spell out your salespage URL! Now go back to the e-book and do the same with those exact same passages, creating a transcript for each of your new audio files.

Over the course of the next few days, add one of the transcripts to your blog as a new post, embed the audio in a player with the post, and ping the usual blog directories AND the podcast directories – after all, your new audio files ARE podcasts as soon as you add them to your blog! This is an easy process if you use a podcast plugin like PodPress – and it will let you upload your podcast to the massive iTunes directory as well! Since every audio file has your URL listed at the end of the podcast, each listener at ANY source is now part of your potential traffic. And since they were interested enough to listen to the podcast, you know they’re TARGETED traffic as well!

That looks after using your new PLR for targeted web 2.0 traffic generation – assuming you remeber to grab your copy from before all 100 copies are gone. If you’re too late, either write and record your own product to use this way, or watch for other PLR sales that include both PLR e-books and PLR audio e-books.

I logged into one of the most-professional article submission services online and uploaded my 3 articles – I’ll say it took 15 minutes including writing the descriptions, author’s info box and linking URL for the three articles, but in reality it probably took less than 10 minutes. But we’ll call it 15 minutes and the hour was up.

I then put article marketing out of my mind and went back to all my ‘normal’ internet marketing and affiliate marketing efforts. A
week later as I was about to start week two’s article marketing activities, I logged back into the submission service to see what the situation was with the first 3 articles. How does 149 backlinks in Google alone sound to you?

In fact, in just one week, the numbers were:

55 pages indexed and live in google showing my resell rights article;

43 pages indexed and live in Google showing my Article Marketing article; and

51 pages indexed and live in Google showing my Affiliate Marketing article!

That’s 149 more places for people to run into my name and solid info from me online, 149 more links back to my sites, each capable of attracting tightly-targeted traffic to my salespages and affiliate marketing pre-sell pages. For one hour’s work, total. That’s the immediate benefit to article marketing – almost instant spidering by the search engines, and a number of new profit conduits set up aimed at your payment button or affiliate links.

Assuming that was the average response rate, over the course of a year that would be about 150 articles you would write and submit, and the results would be almost 7,500 links to your sites, blogs and affiliate links – think that would help your marketing efforts? And even if you could find them, what do you think 7,500 one-way backlinks to your sites would cost?

And believe it or not, that’s just the tip of the iceberg with Article Marketing. Search engine optimization (SEO) is important on your web site – but you already knew that, right? But did you know that search engine optimization is also an important part of your article marketing, vis-à-vis the articles that you will distribute and submit to the various article directories too? You must keep SEO in mind during all of your article marketing efforts…

You may think that the only part that article marketing plays in search engine optimization is that it provides numerous one-way back links to your websites, blogs and affiliate promotions. While this does help in the optimization of your own sites to an extent, there is more to it than that. You want your articles to become as viral as possible – and performing search engines optimization on your articles accomplishes this feat in two very important ways.

First, when your article is search engine friendly, using keywords that you hope to target in the search engines, it is more likely to appear higher up in the search engine results when those keywords are searched. Furthermore, when people do searches at the article directories using your keywords, your articles should come up better in those results as well. Search engine optimization and article marketing really must go hand-in-hand at all times!

Second, there are hundreds of thousands of people building AdSense sites. They want articles that cause specific types of AdSense ads to appear on their site. An article with the right search engine optimization accomplishes this, which means that more of these publishers will want to use your articles on their site – and that wider exposure can boost your article marketing results significantly.

Unfortunately, most online marketers don’t understand the importance of making their articles search engine friendly – and even if they do, they aren’t sure how to achieve sufficient search engine optimization in their article marketing efforts. Many sites and e-books go into long, complicated explanations, but it is really quite simple.

First, use your keyword phrase in the title of your article. This is extremely important. Next determine the keyword density that you want to use. Experts say that a keyword density of 2% – 5% is good. This means that 2% or more of your article should contain your keyword phrase. So if your article is 500 words long, your keyword phrase should appear at least 10 times (500 x 2% = 10). So your keyword phrase should be used twice in the first paragraph, six times in the body of the article, and twice in the last paragraph.

Email courses are very popular. There will always be people in your niche that want to learn something new that is related to that niche, and as an expert in your field, they will look to you to teach them what they want to learn. Email courses offer the perfect opportunity to do this – and to earn some money as well.

Email courses are typically free for the person taking the course. Since you want to build an opt-in list, if you don’t already have one, you will need an autoresponder that supports multiple lists anyway. This means that you won’t be out any additional money if you offer a free email course.

You will, however, need content for that course. PLR articles offer a very viable solution. You can use the gist of the material, and make changes and additions to suit your course. The cost of niche PLR packages is very reasonable, and should fit into any budget.

You simply set up your autoresponder, and put a subscribe box on your site for that particular course. You then make changes to the PLR articles that you will be using so that you can deliver your course in a logical way that helps your readers learn what you are hoping to teach them. If you have a flair for writing and you want to make tons of money online, then you have a match made in Heaven!

Writers are considered to be a great asset. The Chinese have a saying called the “Iron Rice Bowl” which is used to refer to an occupation with a guaranteed job security and a good income.

Once you learn to monetize your writing skills, you can definitely guarantee yourself a “Rice Bowl” made of granite!

There are many areas that you can apply with your writing skills.

(1) Article marketing – just write one good article and have them submitted to a couple of article directories (e.g. E-zine Articles). It will give you a boost in search engine ranking and most important of all, tons of targeted traffic!

(2) E-product creation – there are thousands of E-books sold on the Internet on a daily basis. When you take a closer look at the info product creation market, you will find an inexhaustible demand for quality E-books and unique content.

(3) Blog marketing – writing professionally written blog posts and profiles is a market in itself. There is a growing need for personal and corporate blogs, and there are many out there who can’t write their way out of a grade school English test. Combined with blog template setup and header/banner creation, you have a huge market waiting for you.

(4) Copywriting – salesmanship in print! Having sales skills combined with good writing is an unstoppable synergy. And bear in mind, copywriting isn’t just about writing sales letters. The direct marketing industry is your goldmine.

(5) Viral marketing – This is similar to article marketing except that unlike articles, E-books or special reports created with master resell rights or private label rights will easily spread like wild-fire. Who needs search engines when your book and solo ads are read by hundreds of people each day?

These are just some examples. You just need to market yourself as a brand and familiarize yourself with the industry. After all, any good marketer knows that having writers in your team is a great asset to their business.

Good writers are hard to find. Finding great writers who are willing to ghostwrite for you without taking the credit is even harder.

Before purchasing a membership to any private label rights membership site, there are a few things that you should be aware of.

The first thing I would like to mention is that in a monthly membership, there should be a membership cap on the amount of members that are allowed to join. This is mainly to help with any possible duplicate content issues. However the one thing that members should realize is that most members will not use all of the content every month.

You may see a cap of 500 or more members and think to yourself that 500 is way to high of a cap. But, not every member will use all of the content every single month. Some will, and most members will use some of the plr content, but not many will use all of it.

Another thing of be aware of is cheap monthly plr content (mostly plr articles) membership sites. When you see a site selling 400 plr articles a month for $10, you should ask yourself, “How are they able to charge so little?”. Well, in a lot of cases they purchase their articles from an article wholesaler. This wholesaler is selling the same articles to many different plr article membership sites.

This idea of a wholesaler sounds good… but not when it comes to plr articles. The site you join may only be accepting 200 members, but what about all of those other membership sites which are selling the same articles? Your plr articles aren’t as unique as you first may have thought. I’m not saying all cheap article sites do this, but just do your homework first. Calculate in your head the normal cost of a good article ($6-$12), times the number of monthly articles, and take into consideration the membership cap and the monthly fee. You won’t get a definite answer, so purchase wisely and get a sample article if possible before hand to check for duplication.

Using PLR Articles – What You Should Know

You have probably heard of PLR articles. These are ‘Private Label Rights’ articles, which means that you can put yourself as the author of the articles and change them anyway you like. Unfortunately, many people don’t take the time to change them – they just put themselves as the author and replace links with their own links and submit them.

First, this doesn’t do much in the way of establishing yourself as an expert or building credibility. People tend to remember what they read – and you are distributing the same article, with your name on it as the author, that countless other people are also distributing. Second, the search engines aren’t too fond of PLR articles, and they tend to ignore them.

With this said, you should note that PLR articles are a viable source for articles for the purpose of marketing – as long as you change them. For best results, they should be completely rewritten. The idea is there, the information is there…simply rewrite it. Also, make absolutely sure that you change the title of the article!

Many people purchase PLR packages and then pay a writer to rewrite the articles. Writers usually charge about two dollars for this, depending on the length of the article, and how much rewriting there is to be done. You could purchase a PLR package with hundreds of articles for about twenty bucks, have a writer rewrite 52 of them, and have enough articles for an entire year for about $124 bucks! This is an outstanding deal when you consider the time that you have saved.

Again, the key to using PLR articles effectively is to rewrite them and give them new titles. If you aren’t willing to do this, don’t waste your money on PLR packages. Taking the absolute lazy way to article marketing won’t get you very far!
